DANVILLE, Pa. – Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center have been named to Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals 2023. This recognition is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry provider.

This is the fifth year that Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville, has been named to the list. It is the third year for Geisinger Wyoming Valley, in Wilkes-Barre.

“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our staff,” said Megan Brosious, chief administrative officer for Geisinger’s central region. “I’m grateful to be part of a team of so many caring and talented professionals. Whether in the emergency rooms, trauma units, operating rooms or outpatient clinics, our staff brings their best every day to make better health easier for our patients.”

Newsweek and Statista developed a complex methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. Each hospital was evaluated on the following data sources:
Hospital recommendations from peers: An international online survey that included more than 80,000 doctors, hospital managers and health care professionals
Patient experience: Surveys measuring patient satisfaction with hospitals
Hospital quality metrics: Patient safety, hygiene measures and quality of treatment
PROMS implementation survey: Questionnaires that measure patients’ perception of their well-being and quality of life

The World’s Best Hospitals 2023 recognizes more than 2,300 hospitals across 28 countries.

“It’s an honor to have our patients recognize the care with which our teams perform their duties daily,” said Ron Beer, chief administrative officer for Geisinger’s northeast region. “Our patients have come to expect excellent and compassionate care for all their health needs, and our staff continues to deliver. From our students to those with 40-plus years of service to Geisinger, this recognition shows the pride they take in creating a professional, healing environment. Thank you to our entire team for dedicating their careers to making our communities healthier and more vibrant.”

The list was announced on March 1. See the entire list here.
