DANVILLE, Pa. – Geisinger and Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital were named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 list of “Hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs.” The list recognizes hospitals for groundbreaking work in cancer research, innovation and treatment.
"Our commitment to excellence in cancer care is a testament to the dedication and compassion of our entire team,” said Jason W. Mitchell, M.D., executive vice president and chief medical officer, Geisinger. “Led by Rajiv Pannikar, M.D., chair of Geisinger’s Cancer Institute, the entire cancer care team — from oncologists and nurses to social workers and researchers — deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, innovative treatment approaches and collaborative teamwork, ensuring that patients receive the best possible outcomes.”
Becker’s created the list to spotlight these oncology programs for their dedication to advancing discovery, ensuring patient safety and transforming the future of cancer care. The list was compiled based on nominations and recognized industry rankings, honoring institutions that set the standard for excellence in oncology.
Geisinger’s cancer program provides advanced, personalized hematology and oncology care to patients across 11 locations, including the recently completed Geisinger Cancer Center Dickson City. Patients have access to advanced treatments and technology, including genetic testing, chemotherapy and radiation therapy such as CyberKnife and CAR T-cell therapy, all without leaving the region.
Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital is the only hospital in northeastern and central Pennsylvania to offer pediatric hematology/oncology services. The oncology team is a member of Children’s Oncology Group that performs national and international clinical trials to develop leading-edge treatments, improve outcomes and minimize the side effects with quality survival of childhood cancer.
