Resident selection overview

The academic year begins on July 1. Applicants are selected for interviews based on several criteria, including:

  • Personal standards of faculty members and current residents
  • Personal characteristics that align with our vision and will add to our program’s strengths
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation
  • USMLE/COMLEX scores

Interviews take place from October through December. This year, interviews will be virtual.

If selected to interview, you’ll meet with residency leadership. During that meeting you’ll get in-depth information about the program and have the opportunity to ask questions.

At Geisinger, each person matters, and we are committed to fostering an environment that is safe, respectful and welcoming to all. Learn more about our commitment and inclusion within GME.
