Michael Friscia, MD, tapped to lead cardiac surgery team

These are just a few of the qualities Michael Friscia, MD, brings to his new role as Geisinger’s chief of cardiac surgery.
Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the region’s best doctors for heart valve surgery, Dr. Friscia specializes in coronary artery bypass (including off-pump CABG), aortic and mitral valve surgery, TAVR and complex aortic surgery. His clinical interests include cardiac surgery and left ventricular assist device surgery.
Dr. Friscia earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency and fellowship in general and thoracic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery in thoracic surgery and general surgery.
