USMLE scores

Geisinger Commonwealth students have performed exceptionally well on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 exam. Those taking the exam for the first time in 2018 exceeded the national mean.

The USMLE score is given to test takers as a three-digit score. These scores are commonly used by residency programs to determine eligibility for residency and fellowship. 

Geisinger Commonwealth pass rate for Step 1 of USMLE was above the national average. 97 percent of Geisinger Commonwealth’s first-time test takers, passed the exam as reported 2019. The mean score of Geisinger Commonwealth students was 231 which was higher than the national mean of 230.
