The ALT reviews, comments and provides recommendations and advice to the president on a myriad of strategic and operational topics and issues facing the college. The president’s seat on Geisinger’s executive leadership team allows ALT to be cognizant of system strategy and operations and how it may affect the academic enterprise (education and research). The ALT develops and facilitates collaborative decision-making through inclusive and purposeful communication while effectively allocating resources of the college.

In its procedures and actions, the committee is bound by policies that are contained in the college student bulletin.

The selection of individual medical students for admission isn’t influenced by any political or financial factors.

Central education management committee (Continuous Quality Improvement)

The central education management committee (CEMC) serves as the continuous quality improvement committee and oversees ongoing quality improvement processes in support of the medical education mission. This includes, but is not limited to, issues related to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation standards and elements. As appropriate, this process will address areas of the college strategic plan that require monitoring or improvement. The committee’s work includes, but is not limited to, determining which issues and accreditation elements are monitored, how often monitoring occurs, which individuals/groups receive and review the results and the process, accountability and timeline for improving identified issues.
