Program applications requirements

Master of Biomedical Sciences

  1. A bachelor’s degree from a U.S. or Canadian accredited undergraduate college or university (must be completed before enrollment in the program)

  2. The following coursework*:
      •  General biology with laboratory (1 year/2 semesters)
      •  General chemistry with laboratory (1 year/2 semesters)
      •  Organic chemistry with laboratory (1 year/2 semesters)
      •  General physics with laboratory optional (1 year/2 semesters)

  3. U.S. citizenship or permanent residence 

*College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) credits may not be used to fulfill any of the above course requirements. AP credits can be used toward required courses.

Master of Genetic Counseling 

  1. A bachelor’s degree from a U.S. or Canadian accredited undergraduate college or university (must be completed before enrollment in the program)

  2. The following coursework:
      One semester of Genetics
      • One semester of Statistics
      • Two semesters of Psychology (other behavioral sciences accepted)
      • One semester of Biochemistry
      • Two semesters of upper-level science courses (i.e. biology, chemistry, embryology, anatomy, physiology)
       
  3. The following experiences:
  4. •  Applicants should have experience observing and/or using skills relevant to counseling.

Submit your materials

Students interested in applying to Geisinger College of Health Sciences’ graduate programs should submit: 

Transcripts 

Send official transcripts to graduateadmissions@geisinger.edu for all undergraduate and graduate coursework completed, regardless of whether a degree was awarded.

Letters of recommendation 

Send letters of recommendation to graduateadmissions@geisinger.edu, or the letter writer can upload directly to the applicant portal.

  • MBS: All applicants are required to submit 1 committee letter or 2 individual letters of recommendation.
  • MGC: All applicants are required to submit 3 letters of recommendation — preferably 1 from undergraduate training and 1 from a healthcare professional.

Test scores

Standardized test scores are optional.
