MBS students & MD interviews

Based on meeting established criteria listed below, current Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) students and graduates of the program will be guaranteed an interview for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at Geisinger College’s School of Medicine (SOM).   

  • Graduates of the MBS program must be in the top 20% of the class, have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate science grade point average, scored a minimum of a 502 on the MCAT 2015 (125 minimum in each section), provided letters of recommendation (LOR) from Geisinger faculty supporting their candidacy and submitted a professionalism competency form completed by the program director. Students must also meet all professionalism requirements, which include no institutional actions, felonies or misdemeanors listed on the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) application. Finally, students must successfully complete all postgraduate work.
  • Current students in the MBS program must be in the top 20% of the class based on 1 semester’s grades, have a minimum 3.25 undergraduate science grade point average, scored a minimum of a 502 on the MCAT 2015 (125 minimum in each section), provided LORs from Geisinger SOM faculty supporting their candidacy and submitted a professionalism competency form completed by the program director. Students must also meet all professionalism requirements, which include no institutional actions, felonies or misdemeanors listed on the AMCAS application. Finally, students must successfully complete all postgraduate work.

Graduates and current MBS students who do not meet the abovementioned criteria may still be invited for an MD interview if their application credentials merit one.
